Today’s boats and ships with high performance engines, produce a tremendous amount of power which makes the ships move more rapidly, creating far greater rudder torque. It is not practical for a person or even two people, to turn a steering wheel with sheer brute force. The use of a hydraulically powered system is highly recommended on larger vessels, whereby the helmsman produces only pilot signals, either hydraulically (Helm Pump) or electrically (Jog Lever) to effect rudder movement.
The basic function of the Marine Hydraulic Steering Gear is to provide hydraulic pressure to the steering cylinder, either with a hand-operated help pump, or power-driven hydraulic pumps. The hydraulic fluid is transferred from the pumping device to the steering cylinders, which in turn, operated the rudder.
Products include Manual Steering System, Electric Steering System, Follow Up (FU) Steering System, Feedback System
