Web Hosting User Guide - FTP - FTP Voyager Version 7.2

 

Using FTP Voyager version 7.2

The following instructions cover typical usage of FTP Voyager and assume the software has been installed correctly on your system.

These instructions are only for individuals with a direct Internet connection, via modem or network. If you are behind a firewall or proxy server, the information below may not work. Consult your network administrator for more information.






Connecting to Your Web Site


Start FTP Voyager.
Click on File, New, Session.








Create a new folder under FTP sites and then complete these fields in the FTP Site Profile Manager .





Name
- Friendly name to identify the connection.

Description
- Describes any information you would like to display identifying the content of your named FTP site.

FTP Site
- The domain name* , for example: www.yourdomain.com.

Default Directory - leave blank. If you are Unix Hosting customer, use html as the default directory.

User ID
- Your administrator username.

Password - Your administrator password.





Click the Connect button.
The following image will display.




The top left window is the directory tree of files on your web server

The top right window are the files on your web server

The bottom left window is the directory tree of files on your local computer

The bottom right window are the files on your local computer

Uploading

To upload to your web server from your local computer, highlight the file(s) you wish to upload (displayed in bottom right window) and click the up arrow.

Downloading


To download from your web server to your local computer, highlight the file(s) you wish to download (displayed in the top right window) and click the down arrow.
