Previously Resolved Known Incident

 

Symptom:
Users experiencing problems logging into the email server, password prompt or error connecting.

 

Problem:
Our email server reported error connecting to the authentication module. Initial checks did not show the actual error (during first error instance), but further investigation showed errors on the internal network interface on 6th September 2007 2.30 pm SGT


Resolution:

Immediate action taken was to divert internal network traffic via a secondary internal network link. This will result in slight mail server downtime (5-10 minutes) as the backend internal network links are swapped on the entire mail cluster.

Further investigation will be carried out to identify the source of the internal network problem, and network equipment/cards will be replaced as necessary.
